I feel accomplished.

Today the participants of the Periodic Table Printmaking Project got notice that our prints will likely be put on display at the Chemical Heritage Foundation’s new exhibit space in Philly. (45min away for me. yay!)

Dates are pending, but I’m so excited! I’ll have to encourage my friends to go see it because I’m so proud. (and i’m crazy)

Swirly-snail-to-be

So the other day I brought in a small scrap of linoleum to draw a design on while I had some free time at work.

Well that took all of 5 minutes and I came up with some sort of swirly-snail design that’s only going to be one layer. I dunno. I guess I should figure out more plates to layer with. I should have brought more linoleum.

Back for more

I have felt the need to do some printmaking these past few days. I NEED to do some printmaking. So after doing some research on different techniques, I’ve decided to stick to linoleum reliefs instead of branching out to woodblock. As interesting as woodblock printing seems to be, I just don’t have the gumption to start it up, with learning the right way of the process, and getting a whole new set of tools, etc.

For those of you who know about my Zodiac Project, I will be starting it up again, however I’m skipping ahead to possibly Pisces or Aries, or even as far as Taurus. It may take me that long to decide what method to use for these prints. I may very well do relief prints, but I do enjoy lithography, however messy it can be.

Either way, my prints won’t be giant 14×14 squares or anything. In fact, I plan to redo the Scorpio on a smaller scale so that it’s not as large and cumbersome. It was just way too big and caused problems and inconsistency in printing… not to mention that I stink at silkscreen anyway. So that was just… a horrible experience.

ANYWAY, I came upon this article on the Daniel Smith site about how artist Pamela Conway Caruso has a unique method to creating Watercolor Intaglio prints.

Becoming inspired by such an idea, I decided to order some plastic plates and watercolor pencils (and more linoleum) so that I may begin my new season of creativity and try my hand at it.

I’m very excited.

ACEO’s and ATC’s

Some of you may or may not care, but I will be offering some Art Cards for both sale and trade. The first three of my available cards will be based on these three prints:

There will be 15 of each of these cards. Some I will only sell, others I will be willing to trade, but the numbers are TBD.

On a side note. If you don’t know what Art Cards are but you love to collect and look at all kinds of artwork, I highly recommend you check the subject out. It’s a great concept!

my killer final

Not killer because it’s so good… Killer because it almost KILLED me trying to finish it.

I scrapped the deck of cards idea because I couldn’t come up with anything. Then one day I was listening to all of my Duran Duran music and POW! Two ideas!!

Here are the designs. They are both inspired by Duran Duran songs. One from their latest album, Red Carpet Massacre, and another from their Wedding Album. Both are approximately 8 or more color runs.

Red Carpet Massacre Love Voodoo

I will post the finished products later.
