I’ve been thinking… Creatively.

When I have enough free time to to be creative on my own terms, I have a list of projects I’d like to work on. So here’s the thing… I might need audience participation. ha!

So, if I know you or almost know you and you exist around the same location as me (for #1 on my list) feel free to hit me up about these things:

1.
Okay so… I’ve decided on a costume I’m going to make for myself (hopefully within the next year)

I need ears. I need GOOD ears.

So since the old molds of my ears are long gone, I need to make new ones. But, it’s kind of hard to make a mold of your own ear. Though I don’t think it will be a mold for foam latex, as I don’t have a spare oven.
So this is how we’re going to do it:

I’m looking for a moldmaker who’d be willing to cast my ears for me.

OR

Someone that wants to learn about casting and moldmaking, so that I can show them stuff and they can do my ears for me. As a bonus, I can show you other nifty stuff, or whatever. I’m a little rusty, so I’ll have to brush up before we start, plus it’d be better to wait for nicer weather so we can do stuff outside because it’ll get messy and I don’t have a studio.

All in all, this probably won’t happen til spring, but I want to get a couple names before hand so that I know who to ask if they’re interested when the time comes.

Don’t be fooled. You won’t get paid. It’s just some fun stuff to do. And depending on what you wanna know and what I can show you, we might end up splitting the cost of some of the supplies. (The cost of doing my ears is all on me.)

Get in touch with me if you’re interested.

2.
I’ve decided that part of my costume will require a custom wig. I am going to be doing some wig design for myself. If anybody would like a specific style of wig (such as a character wig) I’d be happy to practice and try to hook you up with something awesome.

3.
Props! If anybody needs any props for any costumes or characters, let me know. I might be able to whip something up for you. I know how to work with a variety of materials, however I’m limited with metalworking and glass. Though it won’t stop me from trying.

4.
I’ve decided that I’m going to start sculpting again. I think I’m going to start with one of my WOW characters. If I accomplish that, and end up happy, I may offer to do commissions of things. Such as various game characters, virtual or real-life. Infact, I may skip doing my wow character and go straight to someone else’s character so that I have something new and refreshing.

Swirly-snail-to-be

So the other day I brought in a small scrap of linoleum to draw a design on while I had some free time at work.

Well that took all of 5 minutes and I came up with some sort of swirly-snail design that’s only going to be one layer. I dunno. I guess I should figure out more plates to layer with. I should have brought more linoleum.

Article: Logo Design Trends 2008

Here’s an article I found on Logo Design Trends for this year. I thought it was pretty interesting, and after watching design for a bit over the past couple of years, I totally agree. Read the article

Take a look at the logo designs above. What’s your first reaction? They bowl you over and leave you speechless – and somewhat confused don’t they?

These logos don’t have beautiful shapes, shadows, mirrored reflections, warm colors, or icons that signify something; they look like the result of some kid playing around mindlessly. So why would anyone wish to have such a logo?

The explanation is simple: this type of logo design is very different and will definitely stand out by sheer reason of being totally different. But if we look back to the 80′s which was a period of strange geometric shapes and neon colors – these types of logos came about and earned the reputation of spearheading the invasion of “cute logos”.
